Peace Valley Overlook
From a high overlook above Peace Valley, California poppies and coreopsis spread across the rolling hills and open landscape below. The wide 6×17 cm frame of the Fuji GX617 preserves the scale of the valley and the relationship between the wildflowers, surrounding foothills and distant landscape.
Overlooking Peace Valley, the San Andreas Fault runs below and has lifted these hills to roughly 4,600 feet in elevation. California poppies and coreopsis cover the hillsides. The steep hike to this overlook was a challenge with nearly seventy pounds of camera equipment and the thin air at elevation.
Looking across Peace Valley from this high overlook, the effort of the climb gave way to quiet before setting up the Fuji GX617 and making the photograph.
