Carrizo Plain National Monument is one of California’s most remote and expansive landscapes, a broad interior plain stretching between mountain ranges with the San Andreas Fault clearly visible along its northeastern side beside the Temblor Range. Its isolation, open scale and sparse development have preserved a landscape unlike almost anywhere else in California.

During exceptional wildflower years, the plain and surrounding Temblor Range can change almost beyond recognition. In 2017, immense fields of predominantly yellow wildflowers were joined by purple, blue and orange blooms, with color extending from the open plain across steep hillsides and into canyons—a landscape particularly suited to the wide 3:1 frame of the Fuji GX617.
